Hello, I am Danielle. I am Dr. Weber’s Nurse Practitioner. I was born in Bartonville, Illinois (way back in the 1970’s). I was relocated
to Lafayette, Indiana when I was five years old. Actually, my dad was transferred with Caterpillar, and my family decided to come with him.
My mother worked as a reservation agent for Ozark Airlines when we lived in Illinois, but opened her own travel agency when we moved to Lafayette.
I worked for her in high school as a travel agent until I went to college. While attending Purdue University, I worked as a dog bather for a
local veterinarian. While this job helped pay the bills, it also inspired me to complete my education. Later, during my college years,
I worked at Caterpillar, in the medical department.
I entered Purdue University in 1994 and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing
with Minor is Psychology in 1999. I went to work at a local psychiatric hospital, but it closed about three months after I took that job.
I was very fortunate to find a job in the surgery department at a local Lafayette hospital. It took me about 2 weeks to realize that surgery
was my passion in nursing. I had worked in surgery for about one and a half years when a colleague graduated with her Master’s degree.
She and I had many discussions about advanced practice nursing and she constantly encouraged me to go back to school. One day, she came in
with an application for Purdue University’s Masters Degree program. Thanks to her, five years later, I graduated with my Masters of Science
in Nursing. This advanced education enabled me to work for Dr. Weber as a nurse practitioner.
So, what is an adult nurse practitioner?
An adult nurse practitioner is a registered nurse with an advanced practice degree in nursing. The role of the nurse practitioner is to
collaborate with a primary physician, or medical group, to diagnose and treat common acute health problems; provide health maintenance and
promotion; disease prevention and patient education. The ultimate goal of the nurse practitioner and the physician is to provide a
comprehensive team approach to patient care and management. I have worked for Dr. Weber since summer of 2005. I love being able to use my
surgery experience in combination with my advanced degree to help him with patient care.
I moved to Indianapolis in late 2005. I have a
wonderful dog, Gryffindor, who keeps me constantly supplied with interesting stories. I love to travel, mostly because my parents showed me
the importance of life experiences as a child. My brother recently moved to the southern USA, so I make a point to visit him regularly.
Some of my hobbies are horseback riding, fishing, cooking and reading.
I look forward to participating in your care!
