What Is The Purpose Of My CPM And How Long Will I Need It?
The main purpose of a CPM (Continuous Passive Motion) machine is to help the cartilage in a joint heal with a smooth
surface. For the most part, I only use CPMs on the knee joint. The CPM helps the gliding surface in the knee to remain
smooth and mobile during the healing of the leg. I feel you cannot use your CPM too much. I recommend at least 8 hours a
day, but more than that is fine. Some patients prefer to use the CPM while sleeping, so that they can be more active during
the day. I will have you use your CPM until formal physical therapy begins.
